The ServiceRecord charter
This page is the deal we make with every person who pastes a letter into this tool. It doesn't change with what you pay, where you came from, or what would make us more money.
What we are
ServiceRecord turns VA paperwork into plain language: rating decisions, C&P exam notices, decision review options, debt letters, dependency and DIC decisions. Every statement about your letter cites the exact place in the letter that says it. Where your document is silent, the decode says “not stated” and names the office that can answer. The decode is free, for everyone, always, and it is the same analysis a paying user sees.
What we are not
- Not a law firm, and not accredited representatives. ServiceRecord gives information. It does not prepare, present or prosecute claims.
- Not a claims company. We never charge a percentage of back pay or a multiple of your monthly increase, and we never will. The flat $25 Prep Pack is the only revenue.
- Not a predictor. We never predict a rating, never recommend a review lane, never estimate back pay. Where you'd expect those answers, the page says why we won't and who legitimately can.
The grounding rules the decode runs on
- Every finding cites the exact location in your document, as a quoted fragment and where it appears.
- No invented amounts, dates, deadlines, citations or rules. A deadline gets a calendar date only if your document prints one; otherwise you see the basis exactly as printed.
- Findings are ranked: CRITICAL (deadline or rights-affecting), WARNING (costs money or leverage), NOTE (worth knowing).
- Every analysis ends the same way: a plain-language summary, ranked findings, your options, every deadline found, and when to bring in a person.
- Our reference rules are paraphrased from official sources (38 U.S.C., 38 CFR, va.gov), carry their citations, and are versioned in the open in our repository.
Your documents
Your document is read once and discarded. It is never stored, sold or used to train anything, and there is no account. The multi-letter timeline lives in your browser tab's session storage and disappears when the tab closes. Two things persist: an email address if you opt in, and Stripe's own records if you buy the Prep Pack.
Independence
We take no money from the institutions we write about: the VA, claims companies, exam contractors. The organizations listed for human help (DAV, VFW, American Legion, county service officers, VA's accreditation search) pay us nothing and don't know we exist. Money never changes what the tool tells you. Paying buys the organized Prep Pack, and the analysis underneath it is the same.
When your situation exceeds this tool
A tool that reads one letter cannot weigh your whole file. If you're facing a denial you disagree with, a reduction, a severance, a large debt, a missed deadline or a discharge-status issue, bring in a person. Free first: a VSO service officer (DAV, VFW, American Legion, no membership required) or your county veterans service officer. For Board appeals and court cases, a VA-accredited attorney. Verify anyone who charges at va.gov/ogc/apps/accreditation.
